Wherever You Go, Go With All Your Heart

Leaving home for long periods of time is never easy, but can you imagine leaving home for almost a whole year? Well, two students here at WCHS share their experience with their travels.

Savanah Guilmot is from Belgium and is staying here in Wayne City with Christal Johnson. She graduated last year, and is attending school here at WCHS.

Savanah would like to get her degree in Economy, and travel more. When asked where’s the one country you want to travel to most, her response was, “I want to travel around the world, not just one country.” Savanah is very funny, a good friend, and intelligent. She graduated top of her class. She then later enrolled in the “foreign exchange student program.” She was asked several questions. When asked how she felt about WCHS, she laughed, and said “I can only say, it’s different.” When she was asked what her favorite part about Wayne City was, she answered “my host family.”

Another student here at WCHS is Margot Lemonnier. She lives with Shauna Roesch. Margot, who is also from Belgium, enjoys hiking and camping. She is part of a youth movement called Scout. She also enjoys watching movies, her favorite movie being “Shutter Island.” Her favorite part about America is the part that the sports are involved with the school. She believes it creates a great atmosphere between the students, and she finds it easier because we practice here at the school. She absolutely loves the gym. When asked why she chose to be a part of the foreign exchange student program, her response was, “The reason why I decided to do this experience is because I really like discovering new countries, new culture, and new people that can broaden my mind. It’s a great way to see another way of living.” When asked what does she think about WCHS, she also laughed with a response of, “Its different. In Belgium I have to wear a uniform, but here I can wear what I want. The school here is much smaller than my school back home as well.” When she goes back home in Lasne, she will attend college, where she would like to get her degree in Biology Engineering.

Margot loves that drinking water is free here in America, and that you can have as much as you want. In Belgium you have to pay, and it is very expensive. She also loves Americas landscaping. She loves that everywhere you go, it’s something different.

Margot and Savanah are both friends here at WCHS. They were both asked if they are going to keep in touch after this school year is over, their response being, “YES!” They were also asked if they will ever come back to visit, due to which they made lots of friends and seeing them leave will be heartbreaking. Their response was, “If we are ever around the area, we will stop to visit, but not for to long.”
