  1. Characters and Actors
    1. To say this movie has an all-star cast is an understatement.
It boasts big actors such as, Nicole Kidman(Satine), Ewan Mcgregor(Christian), John Leguizamo(Toulouse), Jim Broadbent(Harold Zidler), and Ozzy Osbourne(Voice of the Green Fairy). It follows a poet, Christian, as he falls for a courtesan, whom a jealous duke is trying to woo as well.
  2. Setting
    1. Moulin Rouge is based in turn of the century France, at the infamous Moulin Rouge, a Parisian night club. Most of the movie takes place here, or at Christian and Toulouse’s small apartment across the street. The old school and new school themes, looks, and sounds mesh so well together here that it’s barely noticeable. With stunning visuals, colors, and lighting this movie is sure to catch anyone’s attention.
  3. Real IssuesAside from being visually beautiful, Moulin Rouge is also mentally stimulating. It shows the ugly truth behind the nightclub and the costs the workers must pay. It calls attention to, being in bad situations you can’t get out of, forced marriage, mental and invisible illnesses, true love, and jealousy to the point of breaking.  The movie teaches you that not every great story has a happy ending, but that’s okay.
