The start of every new baseball season brings change and this year has been no different. The high school team has a new coach, Landon Willett. He isn’t new to the team though, having assisted the previous coach, Drew Millwood. Landon is a former Indian baseball player and has a great love for the game. The season has had a rocky start with starting pitcher, junior Christopher Clark being out for several weeks with a shoulder injury. Chris has this to say about his injury, “I hate that it happened. The season just started, and I was really looking forward to my junior year.” Then, in the second game of the season, junior Jarrett Lewis rolled his ankle during an away game at Webber and was out for two weeks in a walking boot. Freshman Grant Lewis says, “We got off to a rough start, but I believe the season will get better.” The fall roster is pretty slim with only 10 players on the team. The injuries caused the team to cancel a tournament and a game with Woodlawn. The Indians record is currently 2-2. The Indians have three games left in the fall season and all of them are at home. The team will get another shot at Webber this upcoming Thursday in hopes of seeking revenge and evening their record with them 1-1. Next Monday, Wayne City will be hosting North Clay, a team that is well known for being good. The team has its eyes on the spring season and is hopeful that will be a winning one.
