Wayne City High School has a busy month ahead with numerous field trips scheduled for October.
On October 17, the Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) officers will be hosting officer training for all officers within the section at the Baptist Church in Wayne City with Cisne, North City, Hamilton County, Patoka, Albion, Gallatin County. This training will provide an opportunity for officers to learn and improve their skills, as well as explore additional ways to benefit the school. FCCLA will also be going to their regional meeting on October 25. Schools all over Southern Illinois will be attending the conference at SIU college.
In addition, on October 20 the Music Appreciation class will be taking a trip to see Beethoven’s 3rd piano concerto by the St Louis Symphony Orchestra at the Fox theater. For college credit, they are required to attend at least one concert and make a short review over the symphony. The students attending have expressed their excitement for the trip. Junior Lily Barbre stated, “I am so excited to go. I have always enjoyed music.”
On October 14, the band had the opportunity to visit the St. Louis Fox Theater and watch the Beetle Juice play. Senior Klaira Vaughan states, “It is always fun to get out of town with the band. It is a great bonding experience, and I love going to the Fox.”
Overall, most students feel that the field trips planned for October at Wayne City High School offer students valuable opportunities to enhance their learning experiences outside of the classroom.
