#OBSESSED
September 30, 2017
Everyone has some type of an obsession whether it may be a favorite music artist/song, sport, movie, video game, or they might be interested in some type of hobby that doesn’t necessarily fall under the sport category.
Fellow classmate, Dawson Barnard, a Junior at WCHS, became interested in cars six years ago when he began watching the show Roadkill. This past month, Dawson attended a meet and greet with the hosts of Roadkill. Dawson said, “Cars can be an expression of someone’s personality with what sort of modifications they do to them and what car they choose to purchase.” Dawson also stated that it is a good way to meet new people.
Another Junior at WCHS, Gracie Musgrave, is a huge fan of Taylor Swift and has been since the beginning of Taylor’s career. Dramatically, Gracie said, “Taylor Swift is an icon! She’s super talented and is one of the only “childhood stars” that hasn’t gone completely crazy. She’s beautiful and writes her own music. She works so hard, especially through all the crap she gets in the media.” Gracie stated that Swift’s music always makes her feel good and that it’s just a good jam every time.
Freshman, Sydnee Greenwalt is obsessed with Kyrie Irving. Recently Kyrie joined the Boston Celtics, Sydnee says that wherever Kyrie goes she will follow. Sydnee said, “He has some pretty cool shoes and has a great shot.”
Junior at WCHS, Cole Clark, said that he is obsessed with baseball. Cole said, “My Dad is the one who got me interested in baseball when I was in the First Grade and I have been playing ever since.” Laughing Cole said, “Baseball is great unless you’re playing catcher.” Sophomore, Avery Seidel said, “I would have to agree with Cole. Softball is one of my favorite sports. It is just an obsessive sport in general when you truly love the game.”
Obsessions can keep students occupied in their free time and help them to find something to do when they are bored. Although, obsessions can distract students from their school work sometimes it can also be beneficial to their school work.
