Part-time Student, Part-time Worker

“Well, my part time job is working with family so it doesn’t really feel like I’m working. It feels like family time.” Senior, Jaxon King, said about his part-time job working at Iconik. Take it from him that part-time jobs do not have to be boring. When doing something they love, students do not always feel like they’re working.

Students who have part-time jobs also often learn important traits for their future, such as responsibility and timeliness. While students learn good traits like these, they also quickly learn they don’t have as much free time. Between homework, sports, and a job, they can get crunched for time. Junior, Rylee Greenwalt, spoke of her job by saying, “I used to go home and take naps, I cannot do that now.”

What would students consider the best part-time job?  Junior, Kennedy Sledge, stated that the traits of an ideal part-time job would be making good money, having good co-workers, and a day that is not overly busy but not slow either.

Part-time jobs can be great for students; however they’re not for everyone. A job may be too much for high schoolers who play sports or study a lot. With that being said, school should always come first, but if a student has time there are always benefits to having a part-time job.
