How To: Build a Playlist For Every Occasion

Music is a timeless art. It’s been around for thousands of years, yet it still does so much for people. Men and women of all ages turn to music for inspiration, for help expressing their emotions, and even just for pleasure. For every emotion and occasion, there is a song.

Now, to the topic of the playlist. A dictionary defines the playlist as a list of digital files to be played on a portable media player, computer, etc. They can be created for any occasion and/or any emotion. How does one know what to put in their playlist though?

There are three easy decisions one needs to make while creating their playlist: what it’s for, the title, and the perfect songs that will make up the playlist.

To begin, a person must decide what they’re creating this playlist for; is it for a party, are they going for a run, or are they maybe feeling a little blue? Music can be used to motive, soothe, even inspire people. There are many reasons one may create a playlist. Once they’ve decided this, the playlist must be named. Anything will work. Choose something common or go all out to give the playlist a very creative title. Lastly, a person needs to choose the songs in their library of music that they feel relates to their playlist. After all, this is the most important step. Senior, Jaxon King, explained his playlists by saying “My playlists go with how my day went. I’ve got some that are sad, some lit, some that are even angry.”

In the end a playlist is not only a list of songs, but in the words of Junior, Hanah Cooper, “The most fire songs of the year written by various artists.”
