Fall Festivities
October 20, 2021
As one of the ways to bring the community together, Wayne City Matters has made it an annual tradition to put on a Fall Carnival, a family friendly event that is good for all ages. Similar to town-wide events like Bean Days and the Wayne City Christmas Parade, the Fall Carnival makes it possible for the entire town to gather and enjoy each other’s company, as well as competition and snacks.
The carnival will take place in the Baptist Church parking lot on October 31 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The night will begin with games, put on by clubs and churches in the community, along with food for sale. As the event continues, costume judging will start at 5, where anyone can enter to have their costume judged and possibly obtain the title of winner. Following, there will be trunk-or-treat from 6-7. Anyone within the community can have a trunk set up to hand out treats; even groups like Wayne City’s FFA club and the cheer team plan to decorate a trunk and pass out candy to anyone willing to arrive in their Halloween attire. When asked, senior Chelsey Greenwalt said, “I love doing the cheer trunk-or-treat! Dressing up with the team and giving the little kids candy and seeing how happy they are is just priceless!” In addition to the trunk-or-treating that will take place, prizes will be awarded all throughout the night for winners of the games, best costumes, and the best decorated trunk.
The carnival itself would not be possible without Wayne City Matters and the work they have done to carry out an event like this. Angela Hedden, a prime leader of the organization, says, “While attending my church, the First Christian Church of Wayne City, God led me to organize Wayne City Matters. Through the organization, we have been able to love on our community by having lots of family fun filled events. Every event we have had has been a huge success, and we are thankful to all churches, organizations, businesses, and individuals in our community who help make things possible.”
