Deep Dish and Devotion

FCA is a Christian organization that gets together every other Wednesday at the Wayne City Baptist Church during the High School lunch period. It will next be held on Wednesday, October 20.  All students are welcome to come. It costs just 3 dollars. The food provided will be Hunt Brothers pizza, a choice of lemonade or sweet tea, and deserts such as cookies or brownies. A devotion is given by a different speaker each week it is held. Even though it is the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, here at Wayne City, students do not have to be an athlete to come.

When asked what his favorite part of FCA, Junior Chase Smith said, “My favorite part of FCA is the good pizza and the devotion.”

The FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) is an international organization that according to their website fca.org “We are a community working to see the world transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes. We desire to see every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and his church. We seek to make disciples through our methods of engaging, equipping and empowering coaches and athletes to know and grow in Christ and lead others to do the same.”

According to timeline.fca.org, FCA was founded on November 10, 1954 in Norman Oklahoma. The FCA is a worldwide organization that shares the message of Christianity through sports programs, and in the case of Wayne City, it’s through Hunt Brothers pizza. The FCA is in 107 countries worldwide with over 20,000 certified huddles.
