Taylor Swift’s new album “Midnights” came out Friday October 21 at 12 A.M. She had events planned for the release week starting October 20 and will be extending all the way to October 28. She announced that she would release this album at the VMAs August 28. There are 13 tracks on the album and she also released seven surprise tracks at 3 A.M. October 21. This is Taylor’s tenth studio album and her first in two years.

Each track on the 3 a.m. edition of the album represents 20 different “sleepless” nights. “Lavender Haze,” “Sweet Nothing,” “Snow On The Beach”, “Labyrinth,” “Paris,” and “Glitch” are all love songs. “Maroon,” “Bigger Than The Whole Sky,” and “Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve” are heartbreak songs. If listeners are looking for regret songs, “Anti-Hero,” “Midnight Rain,” and “High Infidelity” fit into this category. “Karma,” “Bejeweled,” and “Vigilante S***” are upbeat and confidence booster songs. “Question…?,” “Mastermind,” and “The Great War” all are about different stages of a relationship or heartbreak that Taylor went through. “You’re On Your Own, Kid” is about her upbringing in the media spotlight. “Dear Reader” is advice for all of her listeners. In one line from the song she says, “Dear reader burn all the files, desert all your past lives and if you don’t recognize yourself that means you did it right never take advice from someone who’s falling apart.”

Taylor Swift’s “Midnights” broke many records on Spotifiy, Amazon, and Apple Music. There are a very wide range of songs that describe all types of midnights one might experience throughout their life. Any given person could relate to at least one song on the album. Taylor told fans on Instagram Friday afternoon, “Midnights is a collage of intensity, highs and lows and ebbs and flows. Life can be dark, starry, cloudy, terrifying, electrifying, hot, cold, romantic or lonely. Just like Midnights. Which is out now.”
