The Wayne City High School Boys Basketball Team has started the season off with their very first day of conditioning. The team and coaching staff have been looking forward to this moment for a while. With anticipation for the season, they ran on the track, got in the gym for some shots, completed drills to help keep the players in shape, and sharpened their skills ahead of the 2024-25 season. The boys look to recreate the regional win from the 2022-23 year this season, and the boys believe they need to train hard in the conditioning workouts in order to regain the title.
Junior James Walker stated, “I am excited for conditioning this year since it means it is the beginning of the season, and I believe this year we will be very good since a lot of people have been putting a lot of hard work in during the off-season. I believe everyone on the team has the ability to work hard and everyone will need to in order to be successful in the season and it starts in conditioning.”
Walker’s opinion shows the players have high hopes in the season. Senior Will Braddock also believes in the work of his fellow teammates in the off-season. Braddock stated, “I believe with everybody’s hard off-season work, and our upcoming conditioning and basketball practices, we have a very good chance to have a super successful season this year and be in a good spot to have success in the postseason.” The team is looking forward to the first home game of the season on Nov. 26.
