The Wayne City FFA went to the SIU basketball game to watch the SIU Salukis VS Murray State Racers. This game gave FFA members the opportunity to see what different classes SIU has to offer and enjoy a basketball game. FFA member Raelyn Cox said, “I like their strategies and how they do their warm-ups. It was my second time going to a SIU college game, but yeah it was pretty cool to watch.”
FFA chapters in southern Illinois got to enjoy this experience and received a free t-shirt and two snacks of their choice. In the gym, a Jumbotron showcased FFA members showing their support to the team. Emilee Loker said, “I liked how excited everyone was getting over the game, and I enjoyed hanging out with my friends.
This trip gave FFA members the chance to make new friends or see old friends. At half time, they chose two FFA members to do little games to some include trying to make it into the basket, or a giant tic tac toe game to win money or restaurant gift cards. Aaron Cline said, “I liked their different strategies and teamwork in the game and the nachos were awesome Unfortunately, the Salukis did lose the game, but it was a lot of fun. I can’t wait for the next one.” The SIU Salukis lost scored sixty four to seventy four points versing the Murray State Racers, but they still had plenty of fans cheering them on to show their support.
