The Tribe was on fire Tuesday night, August 29, for the Lady Indian’s first home volleyball game! The pep club theme was “Red Out,” so the bleachers were packed with red. Both the JV and varsity won against Webber Township.

The JV starters were Juniors: Makenna Kelly, Gracie Musgrave, and Cheyanne Fenton, Sophomore: Avery Seidel and Freshmen: Lainey Mckinney and Josilyn Wheat. JV took Webber to three matches. They lost the first match 16-25 and won the last two matches 25-22 and 15-10. Sophomore Avery Seidel was asked what she had to say about the JV game and she said, “It was a rocky start, but we were able to pull through for the win!” The varsity game was finished in two matches. The first match was an easy win for the Indians, winning 25-12. The second match wasn’t such a breeze, but the Indians still managed to win 25-20. The starters for the game in both matches were Seniors: Lucy Smith, Morgan Schumm, sharing positions with Gracie McCormick, and Aubrey Noe. Junior: Hanah Cooper, sharing positions with Sophomore, Bryleigh Matthews. Other players included sophomore, Kylee Keele, and freshman, Jakara Greenwalt.

When asked how she felt about the varsity game, Gracie McCormick said “I’m really proud of how we played and how well we worked together as a team. I think this is going to be a great season!” Junior, Hanah Cooper, said, “I think everyone worked really hard, but we still have a lot of room for improvement.” Dane Horton, a member of the pep club said, “I think the girls did an amazing job, but the pep club still needs to improve.” It was a great night overall for the Lady Indians. Their next game they will be taking on the Fairfield Mules Thursday night, August 31 at Fairfield Community High School.
