Justice League

Justice+League

Justice League is a movie including DC comic icons Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg.  In the film, they are brought together by Batman and his ally Wonder Woman to fight a new threat, Steppenwolf, who with help from his millions of parademons, plans to conquer Earth.

In the present day, Superman has recently died and the world has a feeling of sorrow.  His death reactivates Mother Boxes that were hidden and protected on Earth. These Mother Boxes were used by Steppenwolf long ago when he once tried to conquer Earth.  Now, Steppenwolf reappears on Earth in attempt to retry his plan.  He tells Queen Hippolyta to warn her daughter Diana Prince (Wonder Woman) about him.  This is when she and Bruce Wayne (Batman) go out and recruit the other metahumans to fight with them.

The movie had a budget of $300 million, making it currently tied for second place with Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End for the most expensive film ever made.  It was released in the U.S. on November 17, 2017 and has made $448 million worldwide so far.  The movie reviews are very mixed, with Rotten Tomatoes giving the movie a 41%, IMBD giving it a 6.2/10, and 85% of google users voted that they liked the movie.

A few students also had things to say about Justice League.  Junior Dawson Barnard commented, “Kind of a let down,” and gave a recommendation of 6.5/10.  Senior Jaxon King said, “It could’ve been better honestly,”  and he gave a recommendation of 6/10.  Junior Hanah Cooper had a completely different opinion compared to them, saying, “I thought it was one of the best movies DC has ever made.  I was never a huge DC fan, but this movie changed my perspectives on some of the characters and I really enjoyed it.”  She gave a recommendation of 10/10.

With the given reviews, it seems that Justice League is a love it or hate it type of movie.  The story-line and cast members could definitely be debated over.  It’s definitely not a movie that came out and was instantly thought of as great by many viewers.  There doesn’t seem to be a large majority of people at WCHS agreeing on their opinions of the movie.
