Hometown Christmas Parade

2017 has been the year of numerous firsts. A group called Wayne City Matters posted on their Facebook page, “Wayne City Matters was designed and developed to help support all organization in the Wayne City area.” This year, the group decided to organize the first ever Wayne City Christmas Parade.

Many local churches, school clubs and Wayne City citizens entered their fantastic floats into in Christmas Parade. Wayne City FFA, 4-H Club, Orchardville Modified Youth and Little Miss Bean Queen were just a few of the floats included in the parade. The turn out was outstanding. Over 30 different floats were entered and numerous people came out to support the parade and hope to get a bunch of candy, as well. The Christmas parade also included other things besides just floats. ATV’s, recreational vehicles, golf carts and animals were also a big part of the parade.

Senior Morgan Schumm came out on the cold night and said, “It was so awesome seeing our community coming together. I loved seeing all the floats and animals that came through. I was pleasantly surprised with how many people entered and how many came out to watch! I hope this becomes an annual thing!”

Overall, the first annual Wayne City Christmas Parade was a absolute hit! Citizens are already excited for next year and are brainstorming ways to improve their floats. For many Wayne City citizens the coming together to organize the parade was the greatest reward of all. And as Santa said as he made his way through the little town of Wayne City, “Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!”
