Traveling makes the holidays extra hard and stressful for those who have to get gifts for others. Families travel all across the United States to spend their holiday season with friends and families. Some families travel just to get away during the busy season in their hometown. Divorced families don’t necessarily travel far, but each parent has to share their kids evenly during the holiday season. For kids that can be the hardest part of their holiday’s, the kids have to pack up their new Christmas outfits and haul them to each parent’s house. It could definitely become a hassle. “Traveling for the holidays is always hard because you are always trying to keep track of presents and clothes. It is also a struggle when you don’t know where the gathering will be held each year,” said Junior, Shauna Roesch.

Struggles of traveling could be extra money spent for gas or a hotel room depending on how much room there is at the house where the gathering was held. If there are younger kids in the family, the trip to the holiday get together could become quite hectic. The younger kids play a big role in keeping the adults awake while driving if it is a long distance drive. Families may bring their pets as a tag along or others might run into a problem when looking for a caretaker for their pet. A caretaker for a pet could also cost you extra money. A big struggle when traveling for Christmas is the traffic. The traffic could definitely put a damper on a person’s holiday spirit. Families might also struggle with the choice of where to spend their holiday season when their family is spread across the United States.

Fellow classmate, Dawson Barnard, a junior at WCHS stated that his family likes to travel to Branson, Missouri to get away for a few days of the holiday season. Most families go on an impromptu vacation during the holiday season just to get away from the chaos in their hometown. Students near, far, wherever they are, hope to have a merry Christmas and happy holidays.
