Hunting any type of game takes plenty of patience, skill, and luck.  It’s not a very easy thing to do because of those things, and many other factors.  Hunting different game usually requires different equipment and different strategies.  A frequent hunter, junior Marshall White, has five things anyone should know when they are hunting.

  1. Know what you’re hunting.  This is extremely important because if you don’t know, you won’t know how or what to use to call the game in, and the way you go about hunting the game could be completely wrong.
  2. Bring extra ammo just in case, especially if you are a bad shot.  There’s not always a second chance when it comes to hunting, but if there ever is, you don’t want to be left high and dry when there’s a perfect opportunity but you’ve run out of ammo.
  3. Have a good attitude because there’s a good chance you might not even see anything.  Even if everything you’ve done has been near perfect, you could still easily come up with nothing.  Remember that hunting involves a lot of luck, so go out with a good attitude and enjoy the moment.
  4. If your target is moving, lead it a little but not too much.  This is more particular to bird hunting, and it means that if you shoot lined up with your target while it’s moving, your shot is going to be behind.  If you shoot too far forward, your shot will be ahead.
  5. Always bring your phone or a camera because it doesn’t count unless you have pictures on sight.  Say you down something insane like a 20 point buck.  Not many people will believe you if you just tell them that, but if you have pictures to back it up, it will be a hard thing to deny, giving you more bragging rights if you want them.  Hunting can be an extremely competitive sport, and solid proof of your game can make quite the difference.
