Bullying is a big deal in today’s society.Being bullied is caused by dealing with poor academic achievement, low self-esteem, problems making friends, loneliness, and higher levels of substance use. It affects people mentally and physically, because it will make them weak, scared, and their perception on life will change. Also, it has a big impact on the person getting bullied, and not only that person but the people around that person. Bullying is like a magnet, it  draws in all metal around it, bullying affects not just one person but everyone in that circle. Getting torched like that can turn people into monsters, lead them to do terrible and sad things to them self and others.

There are different types of bullying: physical, verbal, social, and cyber bullying. Physical bullying includes hitting, kicking, tripping, pinching, pushing, or damaging property. Verbal bullying, which basically involves getting told bad things about yourself or anything that has something to do with you. Social bullying is gossiping and just talking about people behind their back. Finally, cyber bullying is harassment through social media, internet, or any type of technology.

Noplace 4hate.org describes the experiences of a bullying victim named Marisela. “Hi my name is Marisela. I was bullied from 1st all the way to 5th grade. I’m in 11th grade now, and I’m now 17, so it was a long time ago. But the scars from all those years of bullying are still there. I was a very quiet and shy kid so I guess that made me an easy target and I was treated pretty much like dirt. I should also mention my dad passed away when I was 6 and on top of that I was being bullied. When I got a little older I became depressed a lot and I never knew why. By the time I was 15 I realized I was feeling so depressed, because I hadn’t gotten over being bullied and I realized that I need to come to terms with that in order to move on with my life. You have to forgive, because if you live with this hatred in our heart all your doing is hurting yourself. Forgiveness doesn’t make what that person did to you right, forgiveness is for you so that you can move on and be happy. This process of forgiveness is something I’m still going through. I’m over the bullying for the most part, but, as for the people who hurt me, it’s gonna take longer for me to forgive them for that. From my experience I’ve learned so much, and it’s made me such a strong person.I have to give a huge thanks to my family, who love me unconditionally, especially my mom. she’s everything to me. I’ve come a long way, and my life is doing pretty good right now. If your being, bullied please stay strong. Life has so much in store for you and you won’t want to miss out on it.”

There are lot of ways to cause bullying but not many ways to stop it. Hunter King said, “The solution to putting an end to bullying is to stop it at the source, but also to find out what is causing the person to behave the way that they do,” according to brainyquote. Also, I believe you should talk to somebody about the situation, so you don’t go through the problem alone and you can have someone to lean on.

Bullying does hurt, but don’t let it change the person you are, even if it means people talking about you everyday. One day, they will have to respect you for who you are. Most of the time, if someone makes fun of you, it’s because someone is doing them the same way, they are going through some hard times, or they are just trying to fit to be cool.”According to goodreads, Dan Pearce said,“People who love themselves, don’t hurt other people. The more we hate ourselves, the more we want others to suffer.”according to goodreads. Don’t let the bullies get to you. They just want to drag you down with them. Taylor Swift said, “If they don’t like you for being yourself, be yourself even more.”
