Internet Friends

The Realist Friends Out There.

Trinity Krueger

“Having a best friend online is one of the biggest blessings and tragedies I’ve ever had. She doesn’t judge me by the people around me, my appearance, or my past. She just loves me for who I actually am and I do the same for her. It just sucks that she’s so many miles away. I can’t cry on her shoulder if something goes wrong or comfort her when she needs someone. But even if we can’t be around each other all the time, it doesn’t mean our friendship is any less genuine. Even though there are times where it’s tough, I wouldn’t trade our bond for the world.” Hanah Cooper, a junior, said this touching quote about her best friend, Jenna Timmerman.

Internet, or long distance friends, are becoming more and more prevalent in this time of technology. Most people seem to have at least one online friend today. For most who have them, like Hanah, they say their bond with their friend over the internet is stronger than if they had met in real life and got to hang out everyday.

The older generation of people seem to think that having these friends is a dangerous thing. In most cases, it is quite the opposite. Having someone who really cares and will really listen can and has saved multitudes of lives across the world. So, if you don’t already, branch out and try to get an internet friend today. Who knows, maybe they’ll make your life better too.
