Sammy Woodhouse, a child sex abuse victim is informing the public of her jailed rapist’s offer for the chance to see her son, who was conceived during the haunting of the crime. She abandoned her legal right to remain anonymous in an act to help rape victims like herself. Due to her outreach to other victims, Woodhouse released a video on Tuesday. The video announced to the British government to update the law after the English city of Rotherham’s local council offered her rapist the chance to apply for “parental rights” of their son. After two years of Hussain’s 35-year sentence, he was given this option to apply for these “rights.” Woodhouse was only a teen when she was attacked. The victim’s rapist was dangerous and abusive to Woodhouse, so the council offering these rights could induce danger upon the child, not just the mother.

The victim was informed of Hussain being allowed to attend court and seek legal help during his appearance in court. TIME Magazine stated that Hussain was the ringleader of a child abuse gang and was jailed in 2016 for 35 years after being convicted of 23 child sex offenses. A 2014 report in Rotherham revealed that hundreds of children for more than 12 years had been systematically raped, beaten and sex trafficked.
