Have you ever thought about joining the army but just didn’t know how? First, you can talk to your guidance counselor at your school and set up a time to meet a recruiter. This time will have to work for your parents as well, because if you are under 18 years of age, your parents are required to come with you to this meeting.

If you decide to join the army, one of the first decisions you will have to make is if you are wanting to go in Active Duty or the Army Reserves. The next thing you will do is take a mental health test and physical. If you pass both tests you will set up a time to go to St. Louis, Missouri and take the ASVAB test. On the ASVAB, you will have to get a score of 50 or more to pass. If you pass the score mentioned above, you will get to decide what specific job you get to do in the military.

Some of the options that you can pick from in the Army Reserves are Human Resources, Patient Admission Assistant, Public Affairs Specialist, etc. In Active Duty, you can pick from Attack Helicopter Repairer, Combat Engineer, Critical Care Nurse, etc. There are numerous amounts of jobs to pick from in each area of the military. After you pick, you will then decide how many years you want your contract to last, 2 years is the minimum amount of time you can sign up for. Lastly, you will go to boot camp for 9 weeks. Once boot camp is completed, you will then complete on the job training for the area you picked. After all of this is completed, you are then able to serve in the job you selected, and you will serve in this capacity for the length of the contract that you signed.
