Why is Vaping Becoming Increasingly Popular?

There are many reasons why vaping, along with other non-tobacco nicotine products, would be a more convenient alternative to cigarettes.  Today’s youth seem to be loving it almost more than the adults are, but why? Nicotine is still nicotine and smoking is still smoking, so why is it that hereafter fewer people are smoking cigarettes? Why all of a sudden are people immediately turning to another option as soon as it pops up?

When smoking cigarettes was popular, everyone did it.  After people found out the consequences, its popularity decreased significantly.  Now, we are seeing the trend turn a full circle in the form of e-cigarettes. People believe that just because it has not been proven to cause lung and other cancers and does not have tobacco, that e-cigarettes are harmless.  Vapes and, one more recent hot topic, Juuls are still fairly new. It took people years to know the full effect of tobacco products, and a common fear is that the same will happen with this epidemic.

But what is it that makes vaping so popular, and why are youth loving it so much?  For starters, it does not smell like a cigarette. Vaping customers can find all different flavors for whatever tickles their fancy.  On top of that, it’s considered cool. Kids want to see how many “tricks” they can do with their vapes. It’s also popular, because you don’t have to wait all day in school to use it like you do cigarettes.  Most small e-cigs (including the Juul) produce a small amount of smoke and no smell, so if you hold in a large breath after using it the smoke disappears. This makes it easy to use in class or anywhere else at school.

Above all else, this is becoming popular because it is “cool” and “easy.”  Kids are not even being carded to buy these products in many stores, making it accessible for under-age children.  Many teens know that if the easy access of these products would be reduced, their use would also go down significantly as a result.
