Brother and Sister Strive to Win

Adlee Stephenson

It was the starting day of the Southern Illinois Summer Shootout on August 2-4. Adlee and Ty Stephenson had the chance to get points to qualify for the Better Barrel Races Finals. They got their truck and trailer, packed for the weekend, loaded their horses, and went to the King City Saddle Club. They competed all weekend. When they got to their destination they signed in. After they were done running for one night, they unsaddled their horses and cooled them out.

It was the start of the second day of the Southern Illinois Summer Shootout. Adlee and Ty went back to the King City Saddle Club to compete in their events. When they got there, they went back to the entry office to get signed in. Once they had run both times, they went back to their trailer.

Last but not least, it was the third and final day of the Southern Illinois Summer Shootout. They went back to the entry office to sign in for the barrel race. They both ran and when the announcer announced the standings for the race, Adlee had won 5th in the open and Ty won 3rd in the youth.
