Fall Carnival Fun

Kicking off Halloween in Wayne City on October 27, Wayne City Matters put on a Fall Carnival that was fun for all ages! Kids enjoyed playing games, making crafts, and doing the cake walk before costume judging began. Several local churches, clubs, and residents set up booths for the children to visit and win prizes at. The First Christian Church of Wayne City grilled pork burgers and hot dogs for supper. Costume judging began at 5 pm, each age category was able to walk on the stage and show off their Halloween costumes. FCCLA member, Delainey Bailey, said, “I worked at the FCCLA booth and made little pumpkin crafts with the kids. It was so fun to meet new people and enjoy the Halloween spirit in the town.”

Just after the costume judging ended, the Trunk-or-Treat began. There was a line from the Baptist Church parking lot all the way to the school parking lot for Trunk-or-Treating. Many families, churches, clubs, and organizations set up a trunk for the kids to enjoy. Wayne City FFA member, Ellie Dickey, said, “The FFA made smores around a campfire and passed them out at the Wayne City Fall Carnival Trunk-or-Treat. We also passed out candy to the kids. We had a good time hanging out.”

Trunk-or-Treating is always a big hit in the community. Wayne City Matters member, Maggie Dickey, said,  “It was good seeing all the kids in their wonderful costumes and enjoying the evening.” The carnival would not have been possible without Wayne City Matters, local churches, clubs, businesses, and Angie Hedden. The community enjoyed the perfect weather for the carnival and can not wait for the next year!
