Pretty Girls are Pretty, Smart Girls are Beautiful

Greta Ihmels, Reporter

Clara Ihmels describes herself as a calm, humorous, but overall quiet person. She has always been a shy girl who doesn’t talk a lot, especially to people she doesn’t know well. Clara graduated in 2018 and decided to spend a year abroad. Her travels brought her to Bolivia, South America. She got a job as a teacher in Cochabamba and lived together with Chichina Schütt, a popular fashion designer and her family.

Clara didn’t only stand out because of her talent to learn the Spanish language fast and being a good teacher, but for her light blue eyes, light skin and pretty face. Chichina, Claras host-mom, wanted her to model for her new collection “Boho Chic.” She describes Clara as an “untypical and special type” for South America. Clara never had experience in modeling but agreed to the photo shooting. In the next weeks, she had several fittings. The day of the shooting started with a meeting with the hairdresser and a makeup artist for three hours. Tons of makeup, hairspray and fake lashes later, Clara couldn’t even recognize herself. After that, she got dressed and they started the shooting. The shoot was fun and, even without any experience, Clara did a good job. The pictures turned out amazing and the magazine “ASI-Moda” published them a few weeks later. When asked how she feels about the whole situation, Clara said she earned a lot of confidence during that journey. It was fun to live the life of a model for one day, but it’s a lot more stressful then she expected it to be. It also felt like she was wearing a mask during the day. Clara is thankful for this experience and, if she could choose a place to travel over and over again, she would choose Bolivia. That place has forever a special place in her heart.

Clara came to Bolivia to teach and share her knowledge, she ended up being a model for a popular magazine.
