It’s that time of year again. It’s flu season. Many people around this time of year start getting sick with the flu. Being sick causes a person to miss work, school, practice, games, or any other activity or errand they might be doing. According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the flu is most contagious three to four days when the sickness begins. Here are some ways to help prevent sickness. One way, according to CDC, is to avoid close contact with people when sick. The flu is said to be able to spread to someone up to six feet away. Some other ways to help prevent sickness is to receive vaccinations, stay home when sick, cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, wash your hands constantly, avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth, and avoid drinking after a person or drinking from the water fountain. Staying home when sick prevents the spread of germs to people and objects you come in contact with. “The single best way to prevent seasonal flu is to get vaccinated each year, but good health habits like covering your cough and washing your hands often can help stop the spread of germs and prevent respiratory illnesses like the flu,” states the CDC.
