Senior Night

On February 21, Friday night nine seniors took the floor at Wayne City wearing their home uniforms and playing in front of their hometown for the last time.  It was a bittersweet moment for the nine of them. They have played together since the beginning. That night, the Indians faced Waltonville, a 500 team who could definitely pull a win off if not taken seriously. The Indians jumped out on them pretty quickly, getting a 10 point lead. However, the Spartans came right back into it only down by 6 at the end of the first quarter.  Bound and determined not to let the Spartans spoil their senior night, the Indians amped up the pressure causing the Spartans to turn the ball over with their press. With the press going at full steam, the Indians quickly left the Spartans in the dust and full-filled their bittersweet senior night with a huge 30 point victory. Senior Travis Dickey after the game said, “It was the last game in that gym that we are all gonna play in together. I’m glad we could go out with a big win on this special night.”  The seniors went on to celebrate after the game, having some cake and punch with their family and friends.
