Spring Season

Spring is in the air, and with it comes baseball. The boys are going to be pretty busy over the next three months.  With only having around 12 players, they can only hope to stay healthy. The boys start their spring season by taking a trip down to Zeigler-Royalton High School on March 16. The first home game is four days later on March 20, again against Zeigler-Royalton. When asked what he was thinking going into the season, head coach Landon Willet said, “We have all the pieces to be a great team this season. We have a lot of hard workers on the team with a determined group of guys, we show up everyday and put in 100% effort, and we can be a tough team to beat.” The boys play 24 regular season games this season. The schedule is pretty competitively balanced this year. When asked how many games he was looking forward to winning this year, junior Jarrett Lewis said, “ My goal this season is to be an above .500 team. It’s gonna be a tough schedule, but if we show up with the right mindset, we can get it done.” In case fans are wondering, there will be 12 chances for community members to watch the Wayne City Indians at home this year, with the last home game on May 14 against Centralia (Christ Our Rock Lutheran). The team is really excited to get started, and they could really use fan support. The team hopes to see the community there to support the school.
