This year the Wayne City Indian team has gained the help from Webber as both the schools agreed to co-op their baseball teams for the next two years. This decision did not come to anyone’s surprise, as both schools needed numbers to complete this year’s squad. There are 18 players on this team, which is much more compared to the past season’s teams. The team has gelled and came together way better than expected especially after the heated rivalry games they have had in the past years. This team is led by two seniors, Lucas Noe from Wayne City and Drake Hicks from Webber. Both are four year starters from their respective schools. The majority of the team is made up of juniors. When asked, “What are your expectations as a team for this upcoming season,” junior Grant Lewis replied, “I think our chemistry will improve even more and we will start to improve and play better.” The Indians have started this Fall season 0-3 but have played two very good teams. The team has also been injury-plagued this Fall. The Indians look to have a very strong spring and a good conference season when all players have returned from their injuries. They take on conference rival, the Woodlawn Cardinals, on September 2 as their next game.
