The Varsity basketball team is coming off a thrilling win in the conference championship game against the Woodlawn Cardinals last season. The team lost starters Noah Cooper and Jarrett Lewis, but they are still looking bright. Taj McKinney is returning for his senior season after a phenomenal junior year. McKinney was selected to the All-State team and won the Midland Trail Conference Most Valuable Player. Justin Durham is entering his junior season as a 6 foot 6 center. Durham had a breakout sophomore year in which he was a huge part of winning the Conference Championship. The duo of McKinney and Durham have a great supporting cast behind them who are ready to play. The Indians kick off their season at the Turkey Tournament in Christopher. Due to COVID-19 the tournament was cancelled last season, however in 2019 the Varsity team finished second in a very close game. Our annual Conrad Allen Holiday Tournament was cancelled as well due to the virus, but the team is hoping to have a normal season without all the restrictions they had to abide by last year. Senior Lucas Noe stated, ā€œ Iā€™m just trying to get out there and play some real basketball.ā€
