One of the big prom fundraisers is the 5k Color Run. The 5k is open to anyone who would like to participate in it and accommodates them by making it a run/walk race. It costs 20 dollars to participate and the fee includes a shirt. It is scheduled for Friday September 24 at 6 o’clock p.m. and starts at the old Wayne City School parking lot.  Current student Chase Smith said, “I am pretty disappointed. I would normally run this, but because of IHSA rules I’m not allowed to during cross country season.” It is a very popular event in town because it kicks off Bean Days weekend. This event gets a lot of the student body and community involved together.

It was not possible to have this fundraiser last year due to COVID-19. When asked, Madeline Boyd a student at Wayne City High School said, “I am really excited about getting to have the color run this year, because we haven’t been able to. It is a good fundraiser and a lot of fun to help with, because I get to throw color at people!” The people who chose to participate in the race will being running or walking 3.1 miles. A lot of people chose not to be a part of it just for the fact that it is a long distance. “No way am I doing that! You would actually have to pick me up off the side of the road if I tried to run that, because it would kill me,” said teacher Mrs. Paula Beehn.
