Seniors’ Privilege

At Wayne City High School, seniors are given something called “senior privilege.” This privilege allows the students to have more freedom and make decisions for themselves relating to their daily schedule. Students either choose to have their privilege at the beginning or the end of the school day. “I use my privilege at the end of the day. It helps because I have work after school, so it gives me more time to go home and get ready for work. It also gives me more time to get my homework done,” said senior Abby Reed.

Especially for students who have jobs, the privilege is a handy utility to have. Senior Lucy Curtis also chose to have her senior privilege at the end of the day. “I have it last hour. After I leave here, I go straight to babysitting.” Other students, like senior Destiny Johnson, prefer to have their privilege in the morning. “I have senior privilege first period because it takes me a while to get ready in the morning. I’m not really a morning person.” Many students who choose to have their privilege in the morning do so because they get more time to get ready and mentally prepared for the new day. The students at our school appreciate the freedoms that they are given.
