Prom on a Budget

Prom+on+a+Budget

Every year prom is something every girl looks forward to, but for some girls it can be very hard to enjoy it when they’re worried about not being able to afford the things they need. Dresses can be very expensive for some people, along with the cost to get hair done. Also their shoes, jewelry, and nails can add to the expense list. Even though prom can be very expensive, there are ways students can go to prom but stay on a budget. For example, there are several places where girls can rent dresses or even get a dress for free. There are places that give dresses away for free so girls don’t have to worry about the cost of a dress. They could wear shoes from a previous prom to save costs on new shoes, or even just wear a pair of nice shoes they already have if the shoes don’t show.

Students could always borrow jewelry from a friend or family member to also help with costs. Having a friend do hair could help keep that cost down as well. Nails are something that are not a necessity, for prom but it is something that many girls want. Girls could just buy some fake nails from a store to put on for prom night. Being able to go to prom on a budget, can help girls experiences with prom, and help then have a better time while at prom. Students can spend wisely and attend prom to have fun without worrying about the impact it is having on their pocketbook. I asked senior Shelby Reed about her experience getting her prom dress and she said, “I always want to find gorgeous dresses but don’t want to spend a bunch on them so when allowed to borrow a dress of your choosing that fits your style, it becomes so much more fun.”
