The 2022 Lady Indians Volleyball team kicked off their season with the Fairfield tournament and ended the day with first place in the bronze bracket. Senior Kelby Wood stated, “I felt like our team had some pretty tough competition that day with us being one of the only 1A schools there. We managed to fight through most of our competition and played a great day of volleyball.” The team is 5-0 in the Midland Trail Conference, and they still have four other conference teams to play before the end of the season. The players are very optimistic about this season, senior Jovi Horton said, “I hope we can pull off this win this year, we have a very good chance of becoming conference champs. We have a chance to do something that hasn’t been done here in years.” The team has eight regular season games remaining as well as the Edwards County Tournament and the Conference Tournament. Despite their 9-7 record, this team has yet to lose to a 1A school. This team is filled with lots of talent and experience. Libero Paige Greenewalt said, “I am really looking forward to seeing how this season plays out for us. We have made great progress already this season and I am happy with how well we work together as a team this year.” The team has a new addition to the team, exchange student Alessia Lonano. She is playing left side hitter in Alexis Greene’s back row. Alessia stated, “I am thrilled to experience volleyball here in the US, it is a very different game here.”
