On October 29, the Wayne City High School cheerleaders stole the spotlight at the Church of the Harvest for the annual Trunk or Treat. Transforming themselves into life-sized versions of various Barbie dolls, the cheerleaders not only showcased their enthusiasm for the Halloween festivities but also clinched the coveted “Grand Prize Trunk” award. The cheerleaders meticulously curated a Barbie lineup that spanned the iconic doll’s diverse range of careers and styles. Each cheerleader embodied a distinct Barbie persona. The attention to detail in their costumes, makeup, and accessories was nothing short of extraordinary.
Haley Shelton was all decked out in pink as she decided to dress up as Vintage Barbie. Shelton said, “I picked the vintage barbie because I feel that all the way from the shoes to the hair it felt like it showed a version of me people don’t see.” The Wayne City cheerleaders’ Barbie-themed Trunk or Treat presentation serves as a shining example of how a community can come together to infuse joy and innovation into holiday celebrations, leaving a lasting impression on participants and spectators alike.
Ayden Smith, who dressed up as News Reporter Barbie, stated, “I was really wanting to get 1st place in the group category. However, I’m glad that we got the Grand Prize Trunk award since we worked very hard on the set up.” Their triumph reinforces the notion that unity, creativity, and a touch of childhood nostalgia can create magic in unexpected places. The Grand Prize Trunk Award was a well-deserved title for the cheerleaders, recognizing their commitment to creativity and community engagement. The prize not only celebrated their exceptional effort but also highlighted the positive impact they had on the event, turning a traditional Halloween gathering into a memorable display.
