The Wayne City FCCLA does multiple things for our community. This past month, they have planned many things to do to help the community throughout the year. These ideas have mostly come from the officer team. This year’s FCCLA officer team members are JoAnna Leonardi, Lily Barbre, Abbie Young, Alayna White, Kaylee Bullard, and Emma Griswold. The Wayne City FCCLA officers recently attended an officer training meeting on October 4, 2024 at the Wayne City Baptist Church. At this meeting, the officers came up with community service ideas to present for the following year. One idea was donating supplies to Angels Cove in Mt. Vernon, IL. Another idea focused more on helping local residents, gathering Christmas or Easter baskets, and taking them to Golden Acres in Wayne City, the local nursing home. The Wayne City FCCLA also plans to do another blood drive this spring. This past fall, the group collected 28 pints of blood for the American Red Cross.
“What I like most about FCCLA is getting to know my members on a more personal level while they plan, participate, and lead our activities. I love seeing members enjoying serving others and growing into responsible caring adults! Honestly, it is the students that motivate me to keep sponsoring. They are so fun and very appreciative,” states FCCLA sponsor, Laura Miller.
“My favorite thing we do is honestly the pampered chef fundraiser. Everyone always looks excited to waste their money,” said President JoAnna Leonardi.
The Wayne City FCCLA has helped so many people in and out of the community. They make a huge impact on all of the people around them.
