Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) held a blood drive on September 11 at Wayne City High School. During this blood drive, volunteers donated 28 pints of blood. This event helped FCCLA impact the community this year.
FCCLA advisor, Laura Miller said, “FCCLA means to me exactly what it stands for: Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. The organization gives students the opportunity to focus on families, explore careers and participate in community service while members of FCCLA.” FCCLA gives many Wayne City students the opportunity to make a change in their community and keep the traditions of their families going.
Kaylee Bullard said, “I love Mrs. Miller. FCCLA is fun, plus my mom and older sister were in it. Getting to help out and learn multiple different things like childcare. food, and even owning a business is fun and helps out in the community. I will always hold the club close to my heart.”
FCCLA sophomore member Mandolin Mooney said she liked to “help the community.” Along with the blood drive, FCCLA holds annual events like pumpkin decorating at the Halloween Festival and cookie decorating during the Christmas parade.
Every year, FCCLA has an annual theme. This year’s theme is “Dare to Dream.” This theme shows the importance of exploring a future of possibilities and not being afraid to go after those dreams. The blood drive is just the first step in reaching the community this year.
