On Saturday, November 2, the Wayne City High School Cheerleaders had their first official practice of the season. Starting with a stunting practice, the 15 cheerleaders were eager to be back in the gym learning as they hadn’t practiced since the end of summer.
Senior Kylee Moore stated, “I’m excited to start my senior year cheering. I think that the team will be good this year. We work very well together, and we all look amazing cheering together.”
Each season the Cheer Team learns many new Floor Cheers, Run Outs, and a Line Up. The returning cheerleaders help the new cheerleaders to learn the sidelines, as the sidelines rarely switch throughout the years. The team is very helpful and welcoming to all of the new girls.
“I feel like every practice is another opportunity to get better. All of the past cheerleaders are so good about helping us learn anything we need help with. No one judges anyone at any practice and I feel like that’s what makes us a good team,” said Freshman, Tegan Bowsher.
Although the girls are not fully ready for the season, practice makes perfect. They are working hard in every practice to make the squad the best it can be.
“I am so excited for this season. We have a lot of great talent! The girls are extremely determined and work exceptionally together. My hopes are very high for a successful season!” stated Cheer Coach, Kelsey Gregory.
It is safe to say that the Wayne City Cheerleaders are working very hard, and are striving to be the best they can possibly be this season.
