The FCCLA chapter of Wayne City High School hosted its annual blood drive on Wednesday, September 10, in the high school gym, running from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The students and staff of the school and people of the community came together to back the American Red Cross’s efforts. President of the club, Kaylee Bullard, shared her excitement about the event. “It is always a fun time getting to help out, and know that what you are doing can help save a life. I love getting to spend time with Mrs. Miller and talking with all the people coming in to give blood.” The FCCLA members volunteered their time, handling tasks such as helping with the setup, signing donors up to give blood, giving snacks and drinks to the donors, and making sure that the donors felt okay after they got done donating blood. A total of 23 pints of blood were donated to the American Red Cross. Those in need receive the blood that was given, often during life-saving moments. Every single pint of blood can save up to three lives. Katelyn Catron, volunteer, said, “I always enjoy working at the blood drive. I always work the front desk with Emma Griswold, and we have such a fun time. I love being able to give back to the community in such a important way.”
