Ag Business teacher Jennifer Ehrhart gave her students the opportunity to job shadow at a company in their field of interest. Each student had to contact the employer and set up a time to job shadow. After the experience was over, they had to create a slide show and present it to their classmates. Students also had to write a thank you note and send it to the business. Junior Alayna White job shadowed at Farm Credit and The Medicine Shoppe.
The project gives upperclassmen the opportunity to visit potential career interests. Junior Allison Ellis shadowed at Nutrien Ag Solutions. “My favorite thing about it was getting to learn about the potential job I want I got look at a wheat field even though it was very cold it was a very exciting experience and I would like to go into that field of work. ,” said Ellis. Ehrhart’s hope was that job shadowing would hopefully help students decide on a career before they spend time and money going to college for something they do not enjoy. Also, making communications with businesses and employers gives students a good opportunity for growth toward future experiences. Junior Bailey Shaw got to job shadow at Alphabet kids Shaw said,” I enjoyed taking care of the kids and helping the make projects my favorite one was the snowflakes the kids made them look so cute I had a great experience and I plan to work for them in the future I think I work well with kids and enjoy spending time with them.”
