Ag Business teacher Jennifer Ehrhart gave her students the opportunity to job shadow at a company in their field of interest. Each student had to contact the employer and set up a time to job shadow. After the experience was over, they had to create a slide show and present it to their classmates. Students also had to write a thank you note and send it to the business. Junior Alayna White job shadowed at Farm Credit and The Medicine Shoppe said “
The reason for the project is to give upperclassmen the opportunity to visit potential career interests. Junior Allison Ellis shadowed at Nutrien Ag Solutions. “My favorite thing about it was getting to learn about the potential job I want,” said Ellis. Ehrharts’s hope was that job shadowing would hopefully help students decide on a career before they spend time and money going to college for something they do not enjoy. Also, making communications with businesses and employers gives students a good opportunity for growth toward future experiences. Junior Jacey Smith shadowed for Lamczyk Veterinary clinic.
I enjoyed my experience at Lamczyk Veterinary clinic. I felt very welcome and like I fit right in with everyone else. I learned so many new things and even did some hands-on work. I got to see them check cattle and interact with the patients and animals. I definitely want to become a vet and possibly work for there clinic someday. This was a great experience for all of the students to express their job opportunities and help decide what job for their futures.
