Merry and bright, the Wayne City High School Cheerleaders are lighting up the court with their cheerful spirits. The cheerleaders will compete in the cheerleading competition of the annual Conrad Allen Tournament. The other schools in the tournament, such as Edwards County, North Clay, Sandoval, Grayville, Thompsonville, Carb Orchard, Cisne, and Webber, will have cheerleading teams competing as well.
Indians Cheerleading Coach, Kelsey Gregory said, “The Conrad Allen Holiday Tournament cheer competition is tough this year. There are several schools that are here to win. We need to bring lots of energy and bring our loud voices and super sharp motions. The Wayne City cheerleaders are well prepared and will shine bright tonight.”
Gregory is correct about that. Although the other squads are fierce competitors, the Wayne City cheerleaders have been working extremely hard as a team to prepare perfectly for the cheer competition. The girls are eager to show their hometown the skills they have.
“As long as we have loud voices and sharp motions we will be perfectly fine,” said Senior, Makalyn Gregory. Loud voices and sharp motions are a huge part of a good score. Cheerleaders must be loud enough for everyone to hear. Their motions must be tight and sharp, having no loose arms. The girls have to show up and show out.
Freshman, Tegan Bowsher said, “I think we will do good. We have already had one tournament, and even though the competition was cancelled at that one, we got the experience so we should be able to not be nervous.”
The Wayne City Cheerleaders plan to shine bright during this tournament. They will carry the fans with spirit and fun cheers.
