Is it possible? Is there actually other life outside of Earth? The universe is so vast our brains struggle to comprehend it. NASA says on their website, “All we can truly conclude is that the universe is much larger than the volume we can directly observe.” Scientists know that the universe is flat with only about a 0.4 percent margin of error, which could change our understanding of just how big the universe is. According to NASA “This suggests that the universe is infinite in extent; however, since the universe has a finite age, we can only observe a finite volume of the universe.” UFO sightings are reported constantly.  In July 1947, something happened in Roswell, New Mexico. Some say an alien aircraft crashed in a field. Others claim a government weather balloon fell from the sky. Whatever happened, it was the beginning of the modern obsession with lights in the sky that continues even today. On August 4, 1963  there was a sighting in Wayne City Illinois. Thats right, Wayne City! The witnesses claim to see a bright orange light in the western sky. A former and a present student from Wayne City High School claim to have seen the same thing on April 17, 2017. The two students prefer to remain nameless.  Upon further investigation, both stories have some freaky similarities.  They both describe a large orange light transformed to a bright white color and followed the two in their cars. Are these stories matching up just coincidence? NASA has made statements recently that suggest that the discovery of aliens is a matter of when, rather than if. “Taking into account all of the different activities and missions that are specifically searching for evidence of alien life, we are on the verge of making one of the most profound, unprecedented discoveries in history,” said Thomas Zurbuchen, the associate administrator of NASA’s Science Mission Directorate. Most students polled from Wayne City think there’s a chance aliens exist, some even feel very passionate they do. Although there has been no official confirmation of aliens yet, there seems to be a very good chance that they’re out there.
