During the past few school weeks, many FFA students have been hard at work filling out information to hopefully soon get their FFA State Degree. This degree gives students in FFA a chance to earn scholarship money for college. The first step of this degree is for students to fill out their SAE (supervised agricultural experience) book, making sure they have earned $1,500 or more. The applicants then make sure they have community service hours and that they have participated in many different FFA activities. After finishing their SAE book, the applicants are required to have an interview. After making it past the interview, the students will get recognized for their hard work and dedication with a degree at the next state convention.
This year, six juniors and six seniors have applied to get their State Degrees. Many students feel it is a very stressful time of year for the students, as well as the ag teachers, Mrs. Ehrhart and Mr. Robertson. Many of the students put in hours of hard work into their books to ensure that they receive their degrees. Although students agree that it is tough work to fill out everything that is required for the degree, they manage to get the work done.
Alayna White said, “Applying for your state degree has involved a lot more work than I had initially expected. However, I know that all this work will be worth it in the end.” “It has taken a lot of time and hard work, and I am excited for it all to pay off,” said senior Will Braddock.
