On Wednesday, January 10th Senior Morgan Schumm signed with Frontier Community College to continue her volleyball career. During her Senior year, Morgan played outside hitter and occasionally back row. Morgan has been participating in volleyball since the 5th grade and fell in love with the sport. In grade school, Morgan was moved around the court a lot and had to chance to play almost every position. Ring her 8th grade year, her team won Regionals and got the chance to go to State. Morgan was asked to recall some memories of that time and she said, “We has a blast at State, and I was grateful for the opportunity.”

Morgan has always loved the game and was hopeful about continuing her career after high school. Morgan contacted Frontier’s coach hoping she could land a spot on their team, and sure enough she did! Morgan is extremely excited to continue playing at a college close to home. Morgan said, “I can not wait to be apart of Frontier’s team. It is going to be so fun!”

Despite how excited she is, it is also a very bittersweet moment for her. She gets to play the game she loves, but she no longer gets to play with the girls she has grown up with. “I am sad I won’t be playing with some of my closest friends anymore, and I am sad to say goodbye to high school volleyball and all the excitement it brings. Although I have to say goodbye to some great things that have been a part of my life for so long, I’m ready to start something new at Frontier.”

Previous teammates of Morgan’s are truly ecstatic for her accomplishments and are excited to see what she will do in the future. Close friend, Gracie McCormick said, “I am so proud of her. I can’t wait to support her!”

Frontier’s official season starts in the Fall, so make sure to grab a schedule and come out and watch one of Wayne City’s finest compete at the college level!
