Wayne City High School Performs “Borrowed Time” This School Year

Wayne City High School Drama Club director Mrs. Jennifer Noatch couldn’t decide whether she wanted to do a modern play or an older one, so she combined the two ideas and chose to do “Borrowed Time.” “Borrowed Time” is a comedic play that expresses the ideas about love, the facts about life, the fantasy of time travel, and the consequences thereof. This play is written by Kevin Stone, and it also features some original music by singer/songwriter Jim Spencer.

Kevin Stone has written multiple plays in his 20 years of directing, some of which include “After Hours,” “Archie and the Wallflower,” and “The Light in the Library.” Kevin Stone’s plays must surely be worth watching, because his play “After Hours” is the winner of the Shubert Fendrich Memorial Playwriting Contest. This must explain the demand for his plays.

Along with the population of the school, quite a few students here at Wayne City in particular are rather excited for the production this year. Senior Abby Bowsher states, “It’s something different from the previous years, and it seems exciting!” Senior Savanah Guilmot very much agrees, saying, “I wouldn’t miss it! It sounds like it’ll be a good one.” Finally, Junior Bryanna Price states, “I’m really excited for it, because the plays in the past have all been really good!”

Along with a showing of “Borrowed Time,” the audience gets to enjoy a wonderful meal the first two nights. The first showing is on April 27, starting at 7 p.m, with dinner starting at 6 p.m. The second showing is the following day, April 28, starting at the same time. The third and final showing is on April 29, beginning at 2 p.m.
