As the spring Major League Baseball season begins, high school baseball season also starts with a bang. Ever since the fall season ended, all of the high school baseball players and coaches have been putting in a considerable amount of work into their game, strategies, and many other elements to improve their game. There are many expectations for the season with high hopes for a record-breaking year. The team started with one win and three losses, losing to Oblong, Galatia/Thompsonville and Edwards County. However, in their most recent game, they beat Crab Orchard 7-4. Sophomore Baseball player Landis Musgrave said, “I feel like we have had a good start to the season, despite what our record shows. I think we have a lot of potential this year and can have a very good season.”
Many of the players agree that they can have a very good season. Sophomore Baseball player Marschell Mays said, “Based on our record you would not think that we are working very hard, but we are the hardest working team in the area. Even though we’ve had a slow start to the season, we can still have a great season if we keep working hard.” Their next game will be against Hamilton County High School, and it is an away game. The players feel that it is a good opportunity for a win. Senior Ryan Strader enjoys supporting the baseball team. Strader said, “I think that over the games I have watched they are a better team than ever and have a good chance of picking up some tough wins compared to previous seasons.”
