Exciting Things Ahead for FCCLA

Exciting+Things+Ahead+for+FCCLA

This year in FCCLA at Wayne City High School there is a whole lot to look forward to, with new members and opportunities. “I’m super excited to see what this year brings. I am really looking forward to all that we are planning and I think we have a great group of people,” said chapter president and section secretary Zoe Wiggins. The group has already planned a Pampered Chef fundraiser, Red Cross blood drive, pumpkin decorating, FCCLA regional meeting, and participation in the Wayne City Matters Fall Carnival. All activities are to help the community and to help the members grow as people. Laura Miller says,

“I am looking forward to FCCLA this year!  We have 2 Section Officers, Foundation Secretary Ashton Bullard and Secretary Zoe Wiggins, who have already attended a planning meeting.  We planned an officer training workshop, competition workshop and spring section meeting.  These girls will play major roles in these meetings.  Our local chapter will also be planning several activities throughout the year.  The chapter officers, Zoe Wiggins, Ashton Bullard, JoAnna Leonardi, Lily Barbre, and Paige Chizk, will meet monthly to organize upcoming events and community service projects.  Some planned activities for the fall are a Pampered Chef fundraiser, fall carnival participants, blood drive, region meeting at SIUC, pumpkin decorating, and cookie decorating with Santa.”

FCCLA gets involved with the community. Fellow chapter officer Paige Chizk said, “I am looking forward to building relationships with my fellow officers and members of FCCLA and doing all the fun and exciting things FCCLA brings.” The group chooses a group, organization, or charity to support each year. While the charity has not been picked yet for this year, the group will be choosing the charity soon to support and visit. The group has chosen the Ronald McDonald House in years past, yet there has been talk about doing Saint Jude Children Hospital.
