On Saturday, March 7, the Wayne City High School History Club hosted the annual Trivia Night. This night raises money for the club’s annual trip.
Senior, Emma Griswold, said, “I have loved being a part of History Club for the past four years. I love the opportunities that the History Club offers every year. I am very grateful that we have a supportive community that helps us to go on trips each year.”
Seventeen teams joined the Trivia Night, with over 160 participants. There was also a Ghost Team entered by Roy Evans. The night consisted of 10 trivia tests, with snacks, prizes, and lots of fun. The winning team, “We Thought This Was Bingo,” finished with 83 out of 100 possible points. A competitive night, only five points separated the top six teams.
The members of History Club worked this night as well. A few students graded the trivia test papers, many waited tables, some worked the snack and prize tables, and some worked on team registration. For students who could not attend, a set up and clean up crew offered more volunteer opportunities.
Junior, Addison Caldwell, said, “Working Trivia Night with Laina this year was really fun because we got to walk around and look at everyone’s answer sheets. Sometimes the answers were really funny or completely wrong. It is cool seeing how competitive everyone gets, and it makes the whole night really entertaining. My ice run with Laina, Ellie, and Katelyn was pretty fun too.”
When the night was over, the History Club had raised well over $2000 for their educational end of the year trip to St. Louis. The end of the night also concluded Lamar Choate’s last Trivia Night as a WCHS History Teacher and History Club Advisor.
Choate said, “It was a great turnout and a lot of fun. We raised enough to take our trip, and I was really pleased with the event as a whole.”
