On March 5 and 6, the Wayne City High School Beta Club attended the State Beta Club convention in Springfield, Illinois. They competed in academic tests, painting, photography, jewelry making, speech, performing arts and many more categories. We had students place 1st, 2nd and 3rd in their categories. Peyton Dirks (Painting Division II), Addison Caldwell (Color Photography Division II), Olivia Reed (Math 9), Caylan Piper (Mixed Media Division II), Lily Moore (Black and White Photography Division I)) , Riley Smith (Health and Physical Education 10), and Wyatt Kibler (Biomedical Health Science 9) placed 3rd place in their division categories. Ava Minor (Math 11), Cole Tucker (US History 10), Liam Minor (Agriscience 9), and Milly Talbert (Jewelry Division I) placed 2nd in their categories. Lily Moore (Performing Arts), Anistyn White (Color Photography Division I), and Harper Beehn (Language Arts 9 and Speech Division I) took 1st place in their competitions.
“Our club won a lot of awards and it was fun to see all of them accept them on stage. Celebrating my birthday the last two years at Beta Convention was a cool experience,” Kenzie Seidel (12) said.
“I was very proud of all of my students this year. State Convention in Springfield is always the highlight of the year for Beta Club. This year, we had 15 top 3 finishes. Our members are both intelligent and talented and represent Wayne City very well,” Sponsor Paula Beehn said.
