During the last full week of February, the Wayne City High School FFA chapter hosts its annual FFA week, a celebration that highlights agriculture, student involvement and leadership. The week features several activities designed and held to promote agriculture and student involvement.
“FFA Week is one of my favorite weeks of the year,” said sophomore Anistyn White, a member of the FFA officer team. “With all the planning we do, we are ready for the best outcome possible.”
Planning FFA Week requires coordination among several groups, including chapter officers, Greenhand officers and advisers. While the process can be challenging, student leaders say the effort is worthwhile.
“There is so much planning that goes into FFA Week because it is a lot of work, but it is worth it since it is one of the best weeks of school,” said junior Clara Manning, an FFA officer.
To promote FFA week and announce the daily dress-up themes, the officers created a TikTok video showcasing the costumes.
FFA Week is held in honor of George Washington’s contributions to agriculture. While the celebration lasts five school days, it coincides with the seven days surrounding Washington’s birthday and serves to educate students about the importance of agriculture and its role in American business.
Overall, students look forward to participating in a week filled with activities, spending time with friends and learning about the impact of agriculture on the nation’s economy.
